She was neither young nor old. She was wealthy and cultured, and yet they tore away the piece of skin he occupied in her delicate heart. She never smiled again because she had never done so before. Only a half-smile formed on her face when she understood her husband would not return; she loved him, she loved him as if he were a whim, and she desired him like one who desires to achieve a dream.
