The girl on page XV.01
- The Castaway's Wife
Mixed Media - Acrylic, gouache, and watercolor 42x59.4cm
She still didn't understand. Her love would return on Saturday. They would go for a walk in the park and he would tell her stories of his long journey. She cried from the very moment he departed; her eyes dried up months after learning of the shipwreck. It didn't take long for her to feign indifference toward her loneliness; it had accompanied her before and it seemed it would stay with her for the rest of her life. Her solitary life without him. Her gaze was lost in the vastness of the pink sunset on August 15th. It was at that precise moment when she decided to let herself go. She let herself go so much that she no longer recognized herself in the mirror. That sad look took hold of her face, haggard from tears, swollen from the vain effort of continuing to be herself, so solitarily herself.
