Her distorted face lost all expression, its proportions blurring into her lifeless features; her mind disconnected so that she could continue suffering, like morphine in a broken body. But she was still alive, still plugged into the thread that allowed her to feel. And she felt; she felt how the world took pity on her, and that killed her with shame.
