The girl on page XXVIII

  • The Castaway's Wife

Mixed Media - Acrylic, gouache, and watercolor 29.7×21cm / Bound

Hidden behind the curtains, she waited for the news to pass. Perhaps the air would refresh her circular thoughts. Maybe those ideas had helped her before, but now they struck her temples relentlessly, like iron traps. Her gaze grew cold, her expression froze until it revealed nothing; she became a translucent woman behind a curtain. The reflection of the street gave her volume. The news of the loss, of the lack of response, of that uncertainty navigating on debris drifting at sea. He will not return. His vacuum was the life she had left. Hidden, invisible, behind the translucent curtains, with only the volume of the street’s reflection upon the glass.
